Now that winter is finally showing signs of giving way to spring, it’s time to think about the yard again. Newport residents who find themselves with accumulated yard waste after a weekend of clearing branches and limbs and raking leaves, grass, plant clippings, small sticks and branches can put these items out for pick up starting April 1.
Yard waste will only be collected in brown paper leaf bags or loose in trash barrels labeled “yard waste.” No plastic bags will be collected. Branches larger than 4-inches in diameter must be less than three feet long and either in trash cans or tied in reasonably sized bunches. Free yard waste stickers are available through the City’s Clean City Program and can be picked up in the back entrance of the Public Services garage in the city yard, 80 Halsey St. and City Hall in the Collections office.
Collections will be held on residents’ regular collection day through April 26. For more information call 845-5613 or email email@example.com
